Have you ever wondered how the credit union operates?  Sitting on the Supervisory Committee is a great way to see how your credit union functions on a day-to-day basis.  It is also a great way to give back to the credit union that puts its members first.

Volunteer Opportunity – Supervisory Committee

We’re looking for dedicated volunteers to join our Supervisory Committee. This important Board role helps provide oversight and guidance to ensure our organization operates effectively and responsibly. No prior board experience is required—just a willingness to contribute your time, skills, and perspective to help us achieve our mission. Committee members attend regular meetings and assist in reviewing key information to support sound decision-making. If you’re interested in making a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you!

Supervisory Committee Duties

  1. Assist the Board of Directors and Credit Union management to meet the required financial reporting objectives.
  2. Ensure the Board of Directors and Credit Union management establish practices and procedures to safeguard members’ assets.
  3. Attend monthly Supervisory Committee and Board of Directors meetings. Attend the Annual Meeting of the membership held in March.
  4. Make sure an annual audit is conducted and internal controls are tested regularly.
  5. Present a report to the Board of Directors of annual audit findings.

Supervisory Committee Requirements

  1. Membership in the credit union. Must be bondable.
  2. An accounting background is beneficial but not essential.
  3. Work experience with a bank, credit union, or financial institutions is advantageous but not required.
  4. Applicants MUST be willing to learn about credit union operations, commit the necessary time to attend meetings, enjoy working with people, possess strong communication skills, and be able to exercise independent judgment and objectivity.
